How Ask Your Vault (AI search) works

Ask Your Vault finds your saved links by meaning, not just exact keywords. Describe what you remember in plain English and it surfaces the right link — no tags or folders required.

What it searches

Ask Your Vault analyzes the content and metadata of the links you save — the titles, descriptions, domains, notes, and key content — and understands context, not just keywords. That is why a vague memory can still lead you back to the exact link.

There is no special syntax. The more you describe — a topic, a timeframe, where it came from, or why you saved it — the better the match. Some examples:

By topic“links about iPhone accessibility”
By timeframe“that React performance article from last week”
By intent“that startup idea article about AI agents”
By memory“the recipe with chickpeas”
By research thread“papers about climate change policy in 2025”

How your search is processed

Ask Your Vault runs in the cloud, and iLinkVault handles this automatically — there is no mode to choose. Your search queries and link data are processed securely and are never shared with third parties for advertising or tracking.

Private Vault stays private

Links you move to your Private Vault are hidden from search results and link counts until you unlock the vault with Face ID, Touch ID, or your PIN.
